The 鶹Ӱ Master of Social Work Advanced Standing program is an opportunity for students with a recent Bachelor of Social Work to earn their MSW in as little as one year. Student can complete the advanced standing track coursework online or in person.
Accredited by the CSWE, the MSW advanced standing track is open to students who completed a bachelor of social work (BSW) from 鶹Ӱ or another CSWE-accredited program in the last five years.
Advanced standing students skip the “foundations” section of the MSW program. They start with a one-credit “tune up” course, then choose classes in the “concentrations” section of the program. These include required classes such as Latino Family and Culture, Mental Health Diagnosis, and Management & Leadership in Social Work, as well as electives such as Animal Assisted Human Health, Play Therapy Counseling & Interventions, or School Social Work.
In addition to coursework, the MSW advanced standing program includes two advanced field practicum placements. Practicum placements are currently available in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Coursework is available online or in person, but all practicum placements must be completed locally.
Full-time students can complete the advanced standing track in just one year.
Students also can choose to take the advanced standing track on a part-time basis, while they continue to work.
