Â鶹ӰÊÓ

Speech-Language Pathology Curriculum
Paragraphs

The Â鶹ӰÊÓ program is offered as a residential program takes two years to complete across five full-time semesters. The program is comprised of both academic course and clinical practicum. Students complete a minimum of 400 clock hours of clinical experience across the lifespan. All academic courses are offered on our Forest Grove Campus and English is the language of instruction.

The typical Â鶹ӰÊÓ course sequence is listed in the academic calendar. Note: This sequence applies to current and incoming students. Students who began their coursework prior to Fall 2023 should review past academic catalogs for requirements.

Clinical Simulation

The Â鶹ӰÊÓ speech-language pathology program uses clinical simulation as one of its approaches to teaching. Simulations are both embedded in the curriculum and also used as ungraded assessments of clinical skills. Clinical simulation is a common practice in both medical and nursing training, and Pacific's clinical simulations are designed to meet the rigorous standards of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning.

Community-Based Clinical Education

In addition to clinical simulations, Pacific students learn through hands-on clinical experiences with real patients. Pacific's School of Communication Sciences & Disorders places students in a wide variety of community settings, where students are exposed to the multifaceted nature of the speech-language pathology profession. Most students gain experience in at least seven distinct sites throug their practicum and externship placements.
