The Dyslexia Certificate Program provides teachers with the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of students with dyslexia, from understanding and recognizing it to implementing evidence-based instruction from a science of reading perspective. By considering all facets of children who struggle to gain access to literacy, teachers can serve as advocates and school leaders through well-informed and caring action.
 

IDA Accredited Program Seal

The Dyslexia Certificate Program is a 15-credit program, with five 3-credit classes. The program is accredited by the  (IDA) and on the ’s List of Dyslexia‐Related Training Opportunities. the Dyslexia Certificate Program for teacher will “ensure that qualified individuals provide appropriate instruction across multiple tiers of support” ().

The courses address the foundational aspects of literacy acquisition and development, literacy assessment methodologies, literacy instructional strategies for phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency, and perspectives on vision and learning. Field work experience is embedded in each course, providing opportunities for observation and practical application.

The certificate is designed for licensed teachers or for those currently enrolled in 鶹Ӱ’s teacher licensing degree programs or endorsement programs. Candidates will be well-prepared to take the exam and can apply for a Structured Literacy Certificate from the Center for Effective Reading Instruction ().
