Why Complete an Online Post-Baccalaureate CSD Program?
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers an online or in-person post-baccalaureate program for students with a degree in another discipline to prepare for Â鶹ӰÊÓ programs in speech-language pathology (SLP) and audiology.
The post-baccalaureate CSD program is a non-degree program. The 29 semester hours of coursework provides in-depth study of normal speech, language and hearing processes, and a background orientation to disorders of communication. The CSD program curriculum satisfies prerequisite requirements for application to Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and those required by many other Â鶹ӰÊÓ programs in audiology and speech-language pathology.
The entire post-baccalaureate CSD course sequence may be completed online or through on-campus courses on Pacific’s Forest Grove Campus. The CSD program follows the Â鶹ӰÊÓ underÂ鶹ӰÊÓ academic calendar, so there are set starting and ending dates, and there are also deadlines for submitting assignments and taking exams. Otherwise, online courses are asynchronous and are based on recorded materials in order to enable flexibility for students. Some classes may also include preset times when the instructor is available live to answer questions or facilitate discussion, but attendance is usually not required. Students in the greater Portland area can also choose to add class in person on Pacific’s Forest Grove Campus. Additional information about the program is available in our
Prospective and current students should note that admission to Â鶹ӰÊÓ programs in audiology and speech-language pathology is highly competitive. As part of the post-baccalaureate CSD program, Pacific offers advising and support to students to help them navigate the Â鶹ӰÊÓ application process. Both prospective and current students are strongly encouraged to contact individual Â鶹ӰÊÓ programs to verify needed pre-requisites and determine the extent to which they are likely to be a competitive applicant for that Â鶹ӰÊÓ program. Successful completion of the coursework offered through this post-baccalaureate CSD program does not guarantee successful admission to Â鶹ӰÊÓ programs at Â鶹ӰÊÓ or any other Â鶹ӰÊÓ program nationally or internationally.
