Residency Teacher Licensure Program

Why Complete a Residency Teacher Licensure Program?

Become a licensed teacher in the state of Oregon in only 11 months through Pacific’s Residency Teacher Licensure Program.

Designed for educators teaching on a provisional or temporary license, the RTL program allows you to gain the skills and experience needed to advance your career while continuing to work with young people and serve your community. The RTL curriculum is fully integrated into your already established teaching practice, equipping you with the expertise to take what you learn and put it to work in your current or future classroom. Discover new ways to support your students and refine your talent for teaching with the Residency Teacher Licensure Program at Pacific.
Flexibility establishes the core of Pacific’s RTL program, with coursework that adapts to your professional and personal responsibilities. Taking place every other Saturday throughout the school year, Pacific’s online program features self-guided projects, meaning that you can stay in your current role without having to sacrifice time spent gaining experience in the classroom. Complementing Pacific’s remote RTL coursework is individual mentoring from experienced educators invested in helping empower the next generation of compassionate, innovative educators.

Pacific’s RTL program offers more than just a pathway to professional licensure. Rather, it provides a unique opportunity for teachers to specialize while still having an active role in the classroom through subject area endorsements. Whatever your passion, the RTL program at Pacific can pair you with faculty perfect to put your prowess into practice and begin reaching students like never before. Concentrations in language arts, math, science, world languages, social studies and more uniquely prepare you to make an impact in the lives of young people, sparking curiosity and a passion for lifelong learning.

What Can You Do After Your Residency Teacher Licensure Program?

Licensed educators at every level are in demand, meaning that RTL program 鶹Ӱs can turn temporary roles into careers at the front of the classroom. Whether entering Pacific’s Residency Teacher Licensure Program as support staff, administrators or teachers on provisional appointments, the expert faculty and continued presence in learning environments furnishes you with the necessary tools to create socially just and inclusive spaces where young people can thrive. In addition to gaining a more robust skillset, licensed teachers earn more and have greater job security than their provisional counterparts, resulting in greater teacher retention and healthier school districts.

Your professional licensure — made possible by the RTL program at Pacific — also allows you to pursue advanced degree pathways in teaching, education and school administration. Power up your classroom with specializations in literacy, study curriculum design or get your master’s degree in teaching, all built off the foundation that comes from the combination of your previous experience and the training RTL program alumni possess. Moving into a full-time, permanent role in your school is just the beginning, with countless opportunities for professional growth poised to make you a more effective and thoughtful educator.
