MONTREAL - Montreal hockey great Guy Lafleur is suing Montreal police and Quebec's solicitor general for a total of $3.5 million.
His lawyer, Jean-Pierre Rancourt, says he and his client don't think the Crown should have issued an arrest warrant for Lafleur on Jan. 25.
Rancourt claims the warrant has caused irreparable damage to Lafleur's reputation and that it makes the hockey legend look like a wanted man.
Lafleur was accused of giving contradictory testimony at his son's bail hearing last year.
Lafleur testified at the hearing in October that his son was respecting a court-ordered curfew while in his parents' custody.
But the Hall of Famer later admitted he drove his son to hotels to spend the night with his 16-year-old girlfriend.
