MONTREAL - Former advertising executive Jean Lafleur will spend his third week behind bars while his defence team sorts through a computer hard drive packed with evidence in the case.
Lafleur's Montreal bail hearing is delayed until Friday to allow defence lawyer Jean-Claude Hebert to sift through thousands of pages of evidence loaded onto the computer drive. Lafleur became famous for his poor memory during his testimony at the sponsorship inquiry headed by Justice John Gomery.
Lafleur has pleaded not guilty to five of 35 fraud charges and has not entered a plea in the others.
He is accused of defrauding the federal government of nearly $1.6 million.
Lafleur's bail application has been delayed three times while the defence sifts through evidence.
