MONTREAL - Former ad man Jean Lafleur will remain behind bars while his defence team sifts through thousands of pages of documents to prepare for his bail hearing.
Lafleur's hearing is now set for next Monday after defence lawyer Jean-Claude Hebert asked for another delay today so he can continue digesting the mounds of evidence.
It's unclear if Hebert will have his case ready by next Monday but Lafleur will be there just in case.
Lafleur was the ad man with the notoriously poor memory who testified at the sponsorship inquiry headed by Justice John Gomery.
Lafleur has pleaded not guilty to five of 35 fraud charges and has not entered a plea in the others.
He is accused of defrauding the federal government of nearly $1.6 million.
The former advertising executive was arrested earlier this month after returning to Montreal from his island getaway in Belize.
