Â鶹ӰÊÓ provides this General Disclosure to students prior to enrollment or financial commitment. Successful completion of the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Clinical Psychology program has been compared to the educational requirements for licensure or certification required for employment in each State and US Territory. If the program does not meet, or we are unable to determine that the education program meets the educational requirements, we have provided contact information to the licensing board for that State or Territory.
Students are advised to determine, prior to enrollment, whether the program meets licensure requirements in the State or Territory in which the Student is located.
Â鶹ӰÊÓ considers the U.S. State or Territory address included on the enrollment application as the student’s primary address. For student applicants who are members of any branch of the US Military, their assigned base or base of deployment is considered their legal residence.
Students must provide formal notification to Â鶹ӰÊÓ when the student’s legal residence has changed to another State or Territory and when the new State or Territory is listed on the table below and is noted as Does Not Meet or Unable to Determine.

1In addition to a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, California requires additional coursework or experiences in the following areas: (a) human sexuality (10 contact hours); (b) alcoholism/chemical dependency detection and treatment (1 semester/quarter); (c) child abuse assessment (7 hours); (d) spousal/partner abuse, detection and intervention strategies (15 contact hours); and (e) aging and long-term care (10 contact hours).
Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s PsyD curriculum offers, but does not require, courses that will fulfill the (a) human sexuality and (b) alcoholism/chemical dependency detection and treatment requirements. The College of Health Professions (within which the PsyD program is located) may offer coursework to fulfill (e) the aging and long-term care requirement, however this is not a guarantee. Students who think they might seek California licensure should consult with the PsyD Program Director to incorporate these courses into their program of study. The other requirements, (c) and (d), can be fulfilled through other educational institutions during enrollment or after graduation.
2In addition to a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, Kentucky requires a minimum of 3 semester/5 quarter hours of additional coursework in the following areas: (a) biological bases of behavior, (b) cognitive-affective bases of behavior, (c) social bases of behavior, and (d) individual differences.
Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s PsyD curriculum covers (a) the biological bases of behavior requirement via a psychopharmacology course, (b) the cognitive-affective bases of behavior requirement through our 2-course (6 credit) sequence of Biological-Cognitive Bases of Behavior and Social-Affective Bases of Behavior, and (d) the individual differences requirement via our 2-course (6 credit) lifespan development sequence. The PsyD curriculum does not require a separate 3 credit course, or combination of coursework to equal 3 credits, to fulfill (c) the social bases of behavior requirement; however, we do offer, but do not require, a group processes course that will fulfill this requirement in conjunction with the Social-Affective Bases of Behavior course. Students who think they might seek Kentucky licensure should consult with the PsyD Program Director to incorporate this additional course into their program of study.
3In addition to a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, Michigan requires additional pre-licensure training in identifying victims of human trafficking that meets standards of Administrative Rule 338.2525 (as of 4/1/22) is required. This requirement can be fulfilled through other educational institutions during enrollment or after graduation. Beginning in June 2022, Michigan will also require completion of 2 hours of implicit bias training within the 5 years immediately preceding issuance of the license or registration. This requirement does not apply to applicants renewing licensure.
4In addition to a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, New Jersey requires 6 doctoral credit hours in the following domains: (a) Personality Theory and Human Development Theory, (b) Learning Theory and/or Physiological Psychology, (c) Psychological Measurement and Psychological Assessment, (d) Psychopathology, (e) Psychological therapy/counseling or Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and (f) Research and Statistical Design.
Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s PsyD curriculum covers the majority of these requirements in required or elective coursework. Students who think they might seek New Jersey licensure should consult with the PsyD Program Director to incorporate needed additional courses into their program of study. PsyD program Â鶹ӰÊÓs will need additional courses in personality theory and learning theory to be license-eligible for New Jersey. These requirements can be fulfilled through other educational institutions during enrollment or after graduation.
5In addition to a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, New York requires at least 3 semester hours in each of following content areas: (a) biological bases of behavior; (b) cognitive-affective bases of behavior; (c) social bases of behavior; (d) individual differences; (e) psychometrics; (f) history and systems of psychology; and (g) research design, methodology, and statistics.
