NEW YORK - The Tribeca Film Festival will celebrate Woody Allen's return to making films in New York by showing his new movie on the festival's opening night on April 22.

"Whatever Works" is Allen's first film shot in his hometown since 2004. He has recently filmed overseas, most recently in Spain, where he made "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

"Whatever Works" is a comedy starring Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Begley Jr. and Patricia Clarkson.

The Tribeca Film Festival, which was co-founded by Robert De Niro, will run through May 3.
