LONDON - British police on Thursday arrested five men on suspicion of posting material on social networking sites which incite racial hatred.
The North-East Counter Terrorism Unit said police have seized computers, laptops and mobile phones from seven locations -- the addresses around the country where the men were detained and two others spots.
The suspects arrested include a 43-year-old from North Tyneside in northeast England; a 46-year-old from nearby County Durham; an 18-year-old from Merseyside, northwest England; a 21-year-old from Barnsley in northern England and a 56-year-old from London.
The 43-year-old from North Tyneside has been released on bail, while the four others remain in custody, police said.
The unit said all five men were arrested "on suspicion of publishing or distributing written material which may stir up racial hatred."
