KABUL, Afghanistan - Twin explosions have rocked a residential area on the west end of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
Kabul police official Farooq Asas says a suicide bomber detonated a car laden with explosives. He says two Afghan policemen and a municipal worker have been killed.
A spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed the explosions, but did not have details.
The explosions shattered glass on buildings a third of a mile (half a kilometre) from the site. A reporter for The Associated Press reported gunfire at the scene and smoke rising from the area.
A spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition says initial reports were that there were two explosions at or near a compound run by the British government.
