ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey's state-run news agency says a Turkish freighter ship has been hijacked by pirates off the Somali coast.

The Anatolia news agency says the ship, with 20 crew members on board, was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday.

It cited unnamed Turkish maritime authorities.

The agency says the ship was carrying iron ore from Canada to China.

Anatolia said Thursday that Turkey has asked NATO forces to help end the hijack.
