REGINA - A third health region in Saskatchewan says it has been reusing syringes, but adds there's an `extremely low' risk of infection for patients.
The Sun Country Health Region says syringes were reused occasionally in the operating room at Weyburn General Hospital to inject medication into an intravenous bag.
Health officials say the risk is so low that follow-up testing is not being recommended.
The discovery was made during a review ordered last week by Saskatchewan public health officials.
Syringes were also being reused at a hospital in Lloydminster and in the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
Those cases came to light after word that up to 2,700 people in Alberta are being tested for hepatitis and HIV after syringes were reused at a health clinic in High Prairie.
