SHILO, Man. - A third soldier based at Canadian Forces Base Shilo in Manitoba has died after a traffic accident in wintry conditions.
The military says Corp. Yannick Wright, 27, of Toronto died of his injuries Monday in hospital.
Pte. Daniel Scoular, 24, of Half Moon Bay, B.C., and Pte. Brayden McLachlan, 26, of Port Dover, Ont., were killed Sunday when the driver of their SUV lost control.
The vehicle went off a bridge near Brandon, Man., and landed upside down in a creek.
A fourth soldier, although injured, was able to get out and go for help.
He remains in hospital.
Weather conditions at the time were poor as the area had received heavy snow Saturday night. Police say roads had slippery sections and some were packed with snow.
CFB Shilo says in a release that Wright had been in the Canadian Forces for three years. He was posted to Shilo in 2008 and had one tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009.
Scoular was with they military for two years and McLachaln was a three-year veteran. Both came to Shilo last July.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Daniel, Brayden, and Yannick and our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to their families." said Lt.-Col. Shane Schreiber, commanding Officer of 2 Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.
"They were excellent soldiers, friends and young men, and they will be very much missed by their comrades in the regiment."
Funeral services will be held in accordance with the wishes of their families.
There will be a separate military memorial service at a later date.
