KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A Taliban rocket attack on NATO's main base in southern Afghanistan has killed one civilian and wounded six others.
A senior official with the military alliance says the attack on Kandahar Airfield happened last night.
The death of the unidentified contractor is the first fatality in more than three years of what has become routine bombardment.
The International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, will issue a formal statement tomorrow.
In July 2006, a U-S pilot responding to a rocket attack was killed when he crashed his helicopter near the airfield.
But yesterday's incident was the first direct fatality related to the bombardment.
