BAGHDAD - Iraqi police say a suicide bomber has slammed his car into a police checkpoint in western Anbar province, killing eight people and wounding seven policemen.
A security official says today's attack occurred on the highway east of Baghdad, near the former Sunni insurgent stronghold of Ramadi.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information to the media.
The violence comes as U.S. and Iraqi officials have been working to finalize a deal that would remove U.S. troops from Iraq's cities by June 30 and withdraw them from the country by 2012.
