CAIRO - Sudan's president is visiting Egypt on his first high-profile trip abroad since an international court ordered his arrest on charges of war crimes in Darfur.
Omar al-Bashir is expected to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday. It is his second trip abroad in three days in a show of defiance against the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant issued March 4.
Al-Bashir briefly visited the politically isolated African country of Eritrea on Monday - his first venture abroad since the warrant. But Egypt is a major U.S. ally in the Middle East and a heavyweight in the Arab world.
Under the ICC charter, member states should arrest those indicted when they enter their territory. However Egypt is not an ICC signatory.
