MADRID - Spain's aviation authority says Spanair, the airline involved in a crash last Wednesday that killed 154 people, has had an in-flight problem with another of its airplanes.
Air agency AENA says a Spanair flight from Barcelona to the Canary Island of Lanzarote has made an unscheduled landing at Malaga airport because of an unspecified technical problem.
The plane left Barcelona about 8 a.m. Sunday, then diverted to Malaga within an hour. By mid-afternoon, the Spanair plane had still not resumed its flight.
Spanair has told the El Periodico newspaper the stop in Malaga, on Spain's southern coast, was not an emergency landing.
On Wednesday, a Spanair MD-82 bound for the Canary Islands crashed upon takeoff in Madrid. The accident killed 154 people. All 18 survivors are still in hospital.
