Self-Designed Interdisciplinary Studies

Why Choose a Self-Designed Major?

Customize your academic experience to pursue a unique path of discovery in liberal arts and sciences.

Students with a self-designed major at Â鶹ӰÊÓ tailor their course of study to their own interests and goals by enrolling in an interdisciplinary cross-section of courses.

This option is for students with exceptional self-discipline and self-direction. Students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average to apply for a self-designed major and maintain a GPA of at least 3.2 throughout their course of study.

Each student works with faculty to design a course of study and completes and submits a plan for approval.

What Can You Do with a Self-Designed Major?

The beauty of a self-designed major is that students can tailor their academic course of study to their passions and future pursuits. The self-designed major is ideal for students who want to draw on the liberal arts disciplines offered at Â鶹ӰÊÓ to shape their direction in the future. Because by definition each self-designed major is unique, there is not one specific career pathway that applies to all.
