WINNIPEG - The Supreme Court of Canada has put an end to a legal battle that centred on overtime pay.
The high court has rejected an application to appeal from Winnipeg-based Nygard International.
The clothing manufacturer was ordered by the Manitoba Labour Relations Board to pay former employee Sharon Michalowski more than $11,000 in overtime pay.
Michalowski had signed a contract for $42,000 a year, but quit after having to work many evenings and weekends without extra pay.
The company argued her salary was to cover all work, including overtime.
Nygard took the case to the Manitoba Court of Appeal, which sided with Michalowski.
