MONTREAL - Quebec students are holding rolling protests today in their latest salvo against planned tuition hikes.
They hope to finish the day having held 12 different demonstrations in various parts of Montreal.
Several dozen students blocked access this morning to the main National Bank building, near Old Montreal.
Police ended up using chemical irritants to disperse the protesters and a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer.
The students have been protesting for two months now against government plans to hike tuition by $325 a year over five years.
The government has steadfastly reiterated it will not back down from imposing the increases.
