Elections Canada says a judicial recount confirms that NDP candidate Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet won the Montreal riding of Hochelaga in last month’s federal election.
Canada’s Chief Electoral Officer made the announcement Thursday, saying Boutin-Sweet beat Liberal candidate Marwah Rizqy by 500 votes.
On election night, it appeared that Boutin-Sweet beat Rizqy by 541 votes.
The Bloc Québécois candidate placed third, 1,645 votes behind Boutin-Sweet.
Justice France Dulude of the Quebec Superior Court completed the recount.
