Conservative Leader Stephen Harper was in a traditionally Liberal Ontario riding late Monday afternoon, vying to prop up a rookie candidate in Kingston and the Islands.
This riding is up for grabs since Liberal MP Ted Hsu will not be seeking re-election this time, but it may not be easy to sway a riding held by the Grits for more than a quarter century.
Before Hsu, it had been held by Liberal Peter Milliken from 1988 to 2011.
Keep in mind that the boundaries have been changed since the last election. One border used to extend beyond Highway 401 to the north, but that boundary has since moved south to mirror the major highway. The other boundaries are unchanged.
Seeking a win to keep this riding in red is former Kingston mayor Mark Gerretsen. In the running for the Tories is retired Mountie Andy Brooke. Daniel Beals, meanwhile, is the NDP candidate.
