Â鶹ӰÊÓ is committed to supporting the needs of vulnerable and underserved communities through healthcare. This commitment is tied to both our admissions and clinical experience opportunities. The Pacific PA program offers special admissions opportunities for students from Hawai‘i and students who are veterans.
Veterans Outreach Initiative
Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s School of Physician Assistant Studies has a longstanding commitment to supporting veterans' transition to careers as physician assistants.
This initiative offers an admissions advantage specifically for veterans. The top seven veteran applicants who meet all minimum criteria required by the School of Physician Assistant Studies will be granted an interview. While this does not guarantee admission, it recognizes the unique skills and experiences veterans bring to our program.
There is no separate application for the Veterans Outreach Initiative. Eligibility is determined through the CASPA based on self-disclosed veteran or active duty status.
Hawaii Outreach Initiative
Â鶹ӰÊÓ has a longstanding history with students from Hawai‘i, and the School of Physician Assistant Studies is committed to addressing the physician assistant workforce issues in Hawai‘i.
The Hawaii Outreach Initiative offers an admissions opportunity as well as a clinical rotation priority within the state of Hawai‘i. To demonstrate our commitment to Hawai‘i, we extend interview invitations to the top five scoring Hawaii Outreach applicants each year based on their dedication to serving in Hawaii. This does not guarantee admission but signifies our commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of the Islands.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Hawaii Outreach Initiative, a prospective student must demonstrate a strong connection to Hawai‘i and active plans to return to the islands to practice as a PA. Eligibility can be shown through:
- Current or permanent residence in Hawaii.
- Graduation from a high school or college in Hawaii.
- Possession of a Hawaii driver’s license.
