FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - A pastor killed in a fiery crash in northern Alberta is being remembered as someone who was a mentor to young people and an example to all.
Pastor Shannon Wheaton, his wife and one of his two sons died Friday in a head-on collision on Highway 63 near Fort McMurray.
Pastor Robert Parsons worked with Wheaton for almost five years at the Pentecostal church in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL., where Wheaton ministered to children.
Parsons says Wheaton always went the extra mile to help families in the church and in the community.
He says no job was too big or too small for Wheaton, whom Parsons called -- quote -- "one of the kindest gentlemen that I've seen."
Parsons says people from his church will continue to minister to children and to families as a tribute to Wheaton.
