BEAUSEJOUR, Man. - The federal government says it will spend up to $25 million to bolster recreation trails across the country.
Treasury Board President Vic Toews said the money will go to improve and expand snowmobile, off-road vehicle, hiking, cross-country skiing and running trails during the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
The Manitoba MP said the projects are to be jointly funded by provincial, territorial, municipal or private groups.
The program is part of the Harper government's plan to stimulate the economy.
There was no information available about how many jobs the projects are expected to create or which provinces and municipalities are taking part in the program.
Treasury Board officials were not immediately available for comment.
