One of three Ontario men facing terrorism-related charges after a series of police raids in Ottawa this summer was granted bail Tuesday afternoon.

Misbahuddin Ahmed, a 26-year-old X-ray technician at an Ottawa hospital, was expected to be released from jail later in the day under strict bail conditions that include a ban on using the Internet.

He must also reside with his in-laws and can only leave home without one of his six sureties for medical reasons. Ahmed's family posted a $625,000 bond and $20,000 in cash to secure his release.

Ahmed was charged with conspiring to facilitate terrorist activity after police raided two Ottawa addresses on Aug. 26. Officers seized more than 50 electronic circuit boards they said could be used to detonate explosive devices, along with videos, terrorist literature and bomb-related documents.

Earlier this month, Ahmed was also charged with possession of explosives for terrorist purposes. Ahmed will next appear in court on Oct. 20.

Hiva Mohammad Alizadeh, 30, of Ottawa and Khurram Syed Sher, 28, of London, Ont., also face charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

A bail hearing for Sher is scheduled to begin on Wednesday. A bail hearing for Alizadeh has not yet been scheduled.
