CFB SHILO, Man. - A soldier at CFB Shilo in Manitoba remained in hospital on Saturday after suffering multiple gunshot wounds during a training exercise.
Base public affairs officer Lori Truscott said the incident happened Thursday on the base's training grounds.
She said the soldier was taken to hospital in nearby Brandon, but said she had no idea about the soldier's condition, or even whether the injuries were life-threatening.
"I'm a little bit sketchy on that level of detail,'' Truscott said Saturday, noting she was not authorized to release such information.
Truscott said it was a male soldier that was injured, but she did not release the soldier's age or where he was from.
She said she did not know whether the gunshots that injured the soldier came from his own gun, or from one fired by another soldier.
Truscott said an investigation is automatically launched in such situations.
