WINNIPEG - A recent poll conducted for a major Canadian mutual fund company found that 42 per cent of those surveyed made an RRSP contribution for the 2006 tax year.
The poll conducted for Investors Group, part of the group of companies that includes Power Financial Corp. (TSX:PWF), was conducted from March 1, the deadline for 2006 contributions, to March 4.
The Decima TeleVox poll surveyed 1,026 Canadians and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
It says 55 per cent of those who made a contribution had consulted a financial adviser.
The group says Albertans were the most likely to have contributed to an RRSP at 53 per cent, compared to 42 per cent nationally.
