The five-time NBA champion, 18-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP drew high praise from his former teammates and competitors in the sports world following the win.

Kobe Bryant retired and still winning trophies

However, the 39-year-old鈥檚 win was not without controversy. Many suggested honouring Bryant at the Oscars was problematic during the Academy鈥檚 push against sexual harassment. Bryant was accused of raping a 19-year-old in 2003, although the case was dropped the following year when his accuser refused to testify at trial.
So Harvey Weinstein gets kicked out of Hollywood and Kobe Bryant gets two jerseys retired and wins an Oscar in the same year. Simply amazing.

Interesting dynamic of Kobe Bryant winning at the Oscars

The fact that virtually the same audience that kicked the movement into high gear just gave Kobe Bryant a standing ovation is extremely confusing to me.
