Dance Moms alum and YouTuber JoJo Siwa has had her Claire鈥檚 makeup kit recalled after it tested positive for asbestos.
In a statement emailed to 麻豆影视.ca, Claire鈥檚 said they had 鈥渧oluntarily recalled the JoJo Cosmetic Kit out of an abundance of caution鈥� and that they stood behind the safety of their product as 鈥渟uch small trace amounts [of asbestos] are considered acceptable under European and Canadian cosmetic safety regulations.鈥�
The Nickelodeon star posted a video on Saturday, after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on her makeup kit collaboration with Claire鈥檚, apologizing to her fans.
鈥淚 just want to let everyone know that, no matter what, safety is myself and Nickelodeon鈥檚 number one priority in everything,鈥� Siwa said in the video.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a and on June 6 that consumers who had bought the products from Claire鈥檚 should stop using them immediately.
Claire鈥檚 said that they had moved to 鈥渢alc-free cosmetic manufacturing鈥� last year to 鈥減revent any further concerns about talc contamination,鈥� but that they support 鈥渋ncreased鈥� U.S. Food and Drug Administration oversite.
This is the latest recall for makeup from Claire鈥檚, after an from Health Canada and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said three unrelated products tested positive for asbestos as well.
Claire鈥檚 said they will honour a full refund for any customer who purchased the product.
