Pacific's Amanda Stead Honored by Speech Language Association for Special Contributions in Higher Education

Amanda Stead, an associate professor in Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s School of Communication Sciences Amanda Steadand Disorders, will be recognized by a national speech, language and hearing organization for her “special contributions in higher education.â€

The American Speech Language Hearing Association confers the honor to people deemed to have distinguished themselves as teachers, mentoring or innovators. 

Stead, who received a doctorate from Louisiana State University, focuses on the relationship between language, assessment and dementia.  In addition to teaching a course in progressive illness and dementia, she teaches Â鶹ӰÊÓ courses in communication and aging, counseling and aphasia.

In 2019, she was awarded the Â鶹ӰÊÓ President's Award for Excellence Graduate Teaching. She is , many related to speech, hearing and aging.
