Revenge was on the mind of British man, Dale Leeks, after his girlfriend jokingly whipped him across the butt during a trip to a horse riding shop.
But in fairness, he鈥檇 started it.
He lightly whipped her first so he told CTVNews.ca that he hadn鈥檛 thought much about her response, 鈥渙ther than that hurt.鈥
But when they got home it was a different story. Leeks 鈥渨anted to have a laugh鈥 so he did what any clown would do, he decided: 鈥淵ou know what? I鈥檓 gonna sell her.鈥
So while she got ready for their night out together, Leeks put his girlfriend of one year, Kelly Greaves, up for bid on eBay.
Although he listed her as a 鈥渕iniature collectable,鈥 he described her more like a used car, saying she made 鈥渃onstant whining noise鈥 and that 鈥渢he rear end leaks a bit but nothing that can鈥檛 be plugged.鈥
The London resident also warned buyers that she was 鈥渇airly tidy but close up shows signs of wear.鈥 The ad also mentioned that there was 鈥渘o serious damage but you can see she鈥檚 been used.鈥
Before they left for dinner, Leeks showed the ad to Greaves, who laughed it off.
But while they ate, he couldn鈥檛 stop laughing when he saw his cellphone 鈥済oing crazy鈥 from the eBay bids and messages over the apparent bidding war for his girlfriend.
Bids were coming in from across Europe, the United States and even Australia.
鈥淚 thought, 鈥極h no, what have I done?鈥 the private landscaper said. Bids had climbed to $50,000 when the couple woke up the next morning.
And 24 hours later, by the time eBay removed the ad, the highest bid had reached the equivalent of $119,000.
The post, which had been seen over 81,000 times, was taken down due to eBay鈥檚 policy against selling human body parts or remains.
鈥淭hey told me I couldn鈥檛 sell a human being,鈥 he sarcastically complained to CTVNews.ca.
Before it was removed, Leeks said some bidders asked if they could 鈥渢ake her out for a test drive鈥 with others wondering if there were 鈥渃lose-up pictures of the body work.鈥
The couple laughed about it but he said he definitely wasn鈥檛 expecting the response it received.
Greaves asked him if he would have actually sold her. He said at first, no 鈥 because it wasn鈥檛 worth it.
鈥淏ut when it was going up to ($170,000) in a day, I said, 鈥業鈥檓 not going to lie, I would have been quite sad to see you go, but it wouldn鈥檛 have been so sad 鈥榗ause I would have been crying in my Ferrari or my Lamborghini.鈥
Graves, who is director of a heating company, likely wasn鈥檛 surprised by her boyfriend鈥檚 prank. The couple had been friends for over ten years before they started dating a year ago.
鈥淪he couldn鈥檛 get into a relationship with me like this if she couldn鈥檛 take a joke,鈥 he said. 鈥淭his is a just a normal day living with me, really 鈥 I do stuff like this all the time.鈥
As for retaliation from his girlfriend, he joked: 鈥淭his hasn鈥檛 backfired. Yet. But we鈥檒l wait and see.鈥
