A Saskatchewan distillery鈥檚 gin has been named among the best in the world.

Barrel Aged Vapour Infused gin took first place in the 鈥渃ask gin鈥 category at the recent beating out entries from Australia, Sweden, Iceland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The judges noted the spirit鈥檚 鈥渧ery good interaction between the botanicals and wood notes, with a long, lingering finish and hints of gingerbread."

Distillers John and Barb Cote grow the grains, juniper and flowers that give the gin its flavour on their farm just outside Saskatoon.

鈥淚t鈥檚 all about Saskatchewan,鈥 John Cote told CTV Saskatoon. 鈥淚n Saskatchewan we grow absolutely the best kind of ingredients to do this.鈥
