SEATTLE - SEATTLE -- Things will continue perking at all Starbucks in Canada.
The coffee company says none of the 640 company operated outlets in this country are being shuttered.
The statement follows news of the pending closure of 600 money-losing company-operated stores in the U.S. in the next year.
The Seattle-based firm said yesterday it's trimming its operations in the U.S. after the faltering American economy hastened the pain caused by Starbucks's own rapid expansion.
About 12-thousand workers in the U.S. will be affected by the closings, which are expected to take place between late July and the middle of 2009.
A spokeswoman says most employees will be moved to nearby stores, but didn't know exactly how many jobs will be lost.
