OTTAWA - Gerard Kennedy will run for the federal Liberals in the Toronto riding of Parkdale-High Park, the same riding he represented provincially for 10 years.
The Canadian Press has learned the onetime Ontario education minister and former federal leadership contender will announce his choice of riding Tuesday.
His candidacy will be endorsed by Sarmite Bulte, the former Liberal MP who lost the riding to New Democrat Peggy Nash in last winter's election.
Bulte had hoped to run again but insiders say she's agreed to step aside for Kennedy, believing he has the best chance of winning Parkdale back for the Grits.
Two other erstwhile leadership hopefuls -- Bob Rae and Martha Hall Findlay -- are still looking for Toronto ridings in which to run in the next election.
