NORTH BAY, Ont. - Laboratory results have returned negative for E. coli for four children who became sick last week in a kindergarten class in North Bay.
It was feared the Sunset Park Public School french-immersion students had contracted the bacterial infection when they started to experience E. coli-like symptoms.
As a result, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit closed the school Wednesday for one day as a precautionary measure.
The children were tested for the illness and sent to recover at home.
No new illnesses have been reported.
In a release issued today, the area's medical officer of health said at this time of year there is often an increase in general diarrhea illness that circulates.
