KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.S.-led coalition says its forces have killed five militants in central Afghanistan.
The coalition says the operation in Ghazni province on Monday disrupted a foreign fighter network and targeted a Taliban subcommander believed to have coordinated attacks on coalition forces.
The coalition also says one of its service members was killed and several other were wounded in southern Afghanistan on Monday when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. No other information, including the service members' nationalities or precise location of the attack, was released.
Southern Afghanistan is the centre of the Taliban-led insurgency and the scene of daily clashes. More than 4,700 people -- mostly militants -- have been killed so far this year in insurgency-related violence.
