Canadian singer Shania Twain is apologizing after telling a British newspaper that, if she were American, she would have voted for U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a series of tweets Sunday, Twain said she was sorry to 鈥渁nybody offended鈥 and that the interviewer鈥檚 question had caught her 鈥渙ff guard.鈥
鈥淚 am passionately against discrimination of any kind and hope it鈥檚 clear from the choices I have made, and the people I stand with, that I do not hold any common moral beliefs with the current President,鈥 Twain wrote.
鈥淚 was trying to explain, in response to a question about the election, that my limited understanding was that the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician,鈥 Twain went on.
