Actor Lucy DeCoutere has resigned from the television show 鈥淭railer Park Boys鈥� amid news that fellow actor, Mike Smith, has been charged in the U.S.

DeCoutere announced the news on Twitter Saturday afternoon, and confirmed that her resignation was related to the arrest of Smith, who plays the character Bubbles. Smith is also an executive producer on the show.

On Saturday, Trailer Park Boys Productions Limited issued a statement 鈥渞egarding Mike Smith's involvement in an incident that occurred early Friday, April 1st in Hollywood.鈥�

The release statement includes quotes attributed to Smith and to Georgia Ling, who is described as the victim in the case.

According to the statement, Ling said she and Smith, 鈥渄id indeed have a heavy argument but it saddens me the way things are being reported and the way it was handled by the police.鈥�

鈥淎t no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would've called the police myself, which I did not,鈥� Ling鈥檚 statement goes on. 鈥淭he police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was.鈥�

The statement also quotes Smith as saying, 鈥淕eorgia is a friend of mine and we had a loud and heated dispute. That is all. At no time did I assault her. I am not guilty of the misdemeanour charged against me."

DeCoutere recently testified against radio host Jian Ghomeshi in a high-profile sexual assault trial, where he was found not guilty on all charges.
