One of Hollywood鈥檚 most notorious bad boys has offered embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford his "steady hand鈥 as revelations about his alleged drug and alcohol use continue to rock city hall.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Sheen lashed out after a reported that the actor said Ford was unfit to lead Canada鈥檚 biggest city and called on him to resign.

The article, which describes an encounter between a reporter and Sheen in Toronto, was posted Wednesday by 鈥淭he Daily Currant,鈥 which bills itself as the 鈥淕lobal Satirical Newspaper of Record.鈥

Sheen, seemingly unaware that the publication is satire, called the story 鈥渞epulsive鈥 and apologized to Ford for 鈥渁ny grief鈥 it may have caused.

鈥淵our personal life is and never would be, any of my business,鈥 Sheen added. 鈥淚鈥檓 sorry for any grief this may have caused. If I can be of any assistance in any capacity in this media cesspool, please accept the noble offer of my steady hand and compassionate heart.鈥

Sheen, who has a history of personal battles with substance abuse, came under similar scrutiny in 2011 after a highly publicized breakdown involving erratic behaviour and drug use.

Sheen was eventually fired from his show 鈥淭wo and a Half Men.鈥 He now plays a therapist in the sitcom 鈥淎nger Management.鈥

The satirical article and Sheen鈥檚 tweet come as Ford faced more pressure to resign. , hours after making lewd statements to the media outside his office at city hall.
