LONDON - British prosecutors say a photograph belonging to Elton John is not child pornography.

The photo was taken by an American photographer and shows two girls dancing -- one of them is naked.

An art centre in northeastern England had turned the photograph over to authorities Sept. 20, a day before it was due to go on display. The next day, the gallery closed the exhibition from which the picture belonged, at John's request.

Prosecutors announced in London today that there is not enough evidence to justify charges of possession or distribution of an indecent photograph.

Elton John bought the series of photographs entitled ''Thanksgiving'' in 1999.

He says the picture, "Klara and Edda Belly Dancing,'' has been exhibited across Europe and the United States without any objections.
