MONTREAL - Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe says he'd be willing to campaign alongside Stephen Harper in a national referendum on recognizing Quebec as a nation.
Duceppe is urging his Conservative opponent to show his openness to Quebec by holding a referendum on the topic and eventually amending the Constitution.
But Duceppe, who was campaigning in the Montreal riding of Papineau today, says he's not promoting renewed federalism and that his ultimate goal remains Quebec sovereignty.
Harper's government passed a resolution in the Commons last year recognizing the Quebecois as a nation within Canada.
