VICTORIA - Liberal leader Stephane Dion is blasting Prime Minister Stephen Harper for not fully endorsing the safe drug injection site in downtown Vancouver.
The Conservative government granted the site a one-year extension last fall in order to do more studies on how well the program works before making a final decision about its future. But Dion says the evidence is already in.
He says reports have shown the site helps reduce fatal overdoses among drug users and encourages more people to ask for help.
Dion also says he would consider expanding the program to other cities, including Victoria.
Dion is making his first visit to B.C. after his victory as Liberal leader, with stops in Victoria and Vancouver.
