ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Federal Liberal Leader Stephane Dion kicks off a three-day caucus strategy session today by meeting with Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams.
Dion says he wants to hear the Tory premier's suggestions on how to best unseat the prime minister as the fall session of Parliament nears.
Since last October, Williams has openly campaigned against Harper, repeatedly charging that the prime minister broke a promise when he introduced a new equalization formula that penalizes the province's energy revenues.
But Harper has denied breaking any promise because Newfoundland still has the option of sticking with the principles of the Atlantic Accord.
Dion has found himself forced to defend his previous opposition to the Atlantic Accord, insisting he would respect the offshore revenue deals with Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
When he was intergovernmental affairs minister, Dion insisted excluding offshore revenues from equalization calculations would be unfair to other provinces.
