MONTREAL - The court proceedings against ad man Jean Lafleur are to resume in Montreal this morning.
Lafleur handed himself over to authorities last week after being charged with 35 counts of fraud related to the federal sponsorship scandal.
He is suspected of defrauding Ottawa out of nearly $1.6 million.
Lafleur has already pleaded not guilty to five of the 35 charges against him and is reserving his plea on the remaining 30 charges until more evidence is available.
Justice John Gomery's report into the sponsorship scandal slammed Lafleur for giving evasive answers and appearing "slow-witted.''
Lafleur is not expected to be present in court today, and likely won't seek bail for another couple of weeks. He is the fifth person to be charged in the sponsorship affair.
