TORONTO - A Toronto-based environmental consulting firm says it intends to go ahead with a lawsuit against the federal Liberals over Stephane Dion's new carbon tax plan.

It's not because of what's in the plan -- it's because of the name of the plan -- Green Shift.

That's also the name of the Toronto company.

And it's claiming the Liberals co-opted the trademarked name. The company plans to release more details about the suit on Wednesday.

A spokesperson says when Green Shift Inc.. was approached two years ago to sell its name, the "rebranding costs" were estimated at $2 million.

At that time, Green Shift had annual sales of about $300,000.

But sales have since risen to $1.5 million and Green Shift president Jennifer Wright says that will likely boost the damages she'll be seeking.
