BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Canadian-born acting legend Christopher Plummer has nabbed an Oscar nomination for "Beginners."
The 82-year-old has never won an Academy Award.
His first nomination came two years ago for "The Last Station."
In "Beginners" he plays an ailing widower who comes out of the closet. Plummer has already won a Golden Globe for his role in the film, which co-stars Ewan McGregor.
Born in Toronto and raised in Montreal, Plummer is set to return to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival this summer with a one-man show called "A Word or Two."
Regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation, his diverse slate of film roles also include "The Sound of Music," "The Insider" and "Doloros Claiborne."
Rounding out the Oscar list is: Kenneth Branagh, "My Week with Marilyn"; Jonah Hill, "Moneyball"; Nick Nolte, "Warrior"; and Max von Sydow, "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close."
The Oscars will be presented Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Billy Crystal and broadcast live on CTV.
