UNITED STATES
U.S. President Barack Obama spoke on the phone on Wednesday with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to express condemnation in the wake of the attacks and the American people鈥檚 solidarity with Canada. He offered any assistance Canada needed in responding to these attacks.
, Obama revealed more of what he said to Harper, including:
鈥淎nd I pledged, as always, to make sure that our national security teams are coordinating very closely, given not only is Canada one of our closest allies in the world but they鈥檙e our neighbors and our friends, and obviously there鈥檚 a lot of interaction between Canadians and the United States, where we have such a long border.鈥
鈥淚 had a chance to travel to the Parliament in Ottawa. I鈥檓 very familiar with that area and am reminded of how warmly I was received and how wonderful the people there were. On Thursday, Ambassador of Israel to Canada Rafael Barak offered his 鈥渄eepest condolences鈥 to the families of friends of Corporal Nathan Cirillo as well as Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, who died in an attack in Quebec on Monday.

AUSTRALIA
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott spoke with Harper following Monday鈥檚 鈥渉orrific murder鈥 of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent in Quebec. On Wednesday, after the week鈥檚 second murder of a Canadian solider, he told Australia鈥檚 parliament that "no country on Earth is more akin to Australia than Canada".
"I regard Stephen Harper, their Prime Minister, as a friend and almost a brother," he added.
He also took to Twitter to express condolences:

condemned the attacks in a statement and sent condolences to the family of the soldier killed.
鈥淭he Chinese side is ready to provide assistances if needed,鈥 the embassy said in a statement. It added the embassy has enhanced security measures and have 鈥渞eminded Chinese citizens including students, tourists and businessmen in Ottawa to follow instructions regarding safety and security from the Ottawa Police Service and the RCMP.鈥

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement that his 鈥渢houghts are with the people and government of Canada at this difficult time." And he 鈥漢opes the situation will be brought quickly under control by Canadian law enforcement authorities.鈥
NORAD
Gen. Chuck Jacoby, commander of NORAD, issued a statement that spoke of the bond between Canada and the United States.
"My heart goes out to our Canadian comrades on this tragic day following the shootings in Ottawa, as well as the hit-and-run attack in Quebec earlier this week, both of which targeted Canadian Forces personnel," said Jacoby "We offer our sincerest condolences to the people of Canada. We share their grief, but also their determination not to be intimidated by these cowardly acts."
